Belly Touchers

So…I’m not sure if I am wearing a particularly inviting shirt or what but five people have touched my stomach today. I was at a wedding this morning and some sweet, excited friends just couldn’t help themselves. I’m used to people I know touching my tummy, sometimes they ask, sometimes they don’t but it’s never really awkward because I just know they’re excited for us. However, this afternoon I was walking up to the post office and this complete stranger cried out “Oh, you’re expecting!” (as though we’re long lost friends) and went out of her way to come over and say “I always have to touch the babies. Congratulations!” Now I know for a fact that I was not the only one taken aback by this because the people coming out of the post office shot some strange glances in my direction. Will this be happening for the next 5 weeks? Are there really people out there who think it’s kosher to just go around rubbing random people’s stomachs??

  1. Those people are the worst! I don’t get it- what is it about a pregnant belly? I’m laughing too because it’s all too common- I’ve had some bellytouchers myself. What if all the pregnant people started touching the other person’s belly? That might make them think…I can’t believe in 5 weeks you’ll be a mommy- I’m sooo excited! πŸ™‚

  2. Ahahah! That’s so crazy…I don’t think it ever got that bad for me…I just had a girl at work that insisted she needed to rub my tummy every day. For some reason your belly becomes something apart from yourself to everyone, like it no longer belongs to you, why is that?

  3. That was pretty funny! My how times have changed since I had my babies. I don’t recall ever seeing someone do anything like that. Oh for the good old days!:)

  4. Hahaha, that has happened to me WAY too many times! When I worked at the MTC copy center, there were always people touching my belly. Sheesh people. It might stick out farther than most peoples’ but it still belings to me!!! I think you should keep track of these people and what they say.

  5. I think I will freak out when people touch my belly when I am pregnant!! I dont even think I touched Carrie’s belly when she was pregnant…unless she told me to when Cade was kicking. 5 weeks!! I cant believe it!!
